Catching up and taking a break from my apparently increasingly twisted sense of humor. (Are two adverbs used in tandem too much?)

This is my daughter. She posed in front of a black background to help me get flash settings correct for a different picture. I liked the expression and decided to work on layers a bit.

In a complete departure from the norm, I would like to seriously solicit opinions and criticism on the end result and the methods used. I'm learning on my own and it's a long road.

Her eyelashes are awesome! I really like black background on portrait shots, this is a really great emotional shot.

The highlights at the top of her hair look very nice, and I think her expression almost looks like she's praying. I've never seen such light colored eyelashes. I think this is a very nice portrait.

OK serious comment time

1. In terms of the image. Really interesting expression. It is hard to tell for sure whether it is inner calm or if she is sad/in pain and just trying to hold it in

2. Wonderful clarity and focus. Some may say that the stray hairs should be cloned out, but (and this is personal taste only) I much prefer images with these in, it shows that she is a real person

3. Only question would be whether the black background is a bit harsh given her beaut tijan (sp) hair. If you look at the shot you did on candid, the softer blue of the skyline and sea almost made her hair look more vibrant (imo)

This however is a stunning portrait. Top job

LOVE THE LIGHTING. Maybe just the TEENIEST bit of a harsh shadow under her nose but I have no clue how to correct that. But the lighting from above does gorgeous things with her hair.

Also, her expression is lovely. She's such a beautiful girl; I love her porcelain complexion.

Beautiful skin tones and light on her hair. I'm not much on portraits, but keep on doing whatever you're doing.

a lovely portrait! i love the expression, the light, the shiny hair, the gentle, soft face. very nice. (and you can use as many adverbs as you choose... when used correctly, your effort balances things out for those who mistakenly use adjectives as adverbs) :O)

This is highly emotive. Stunning capture, her hair is beautiful, her skin so soft... and her eyes... they look not calm, but accepting. Wonderful. Of course, one of your better photos, as it does not compare to those ridiculous Peeps, :)

I think this is a beautiful and unusual portrait. You have captured the redhead essence so well here (I'm one, too, so I know). The composition with the dark background on the left, is just wonderful. There is great clarity and focus on the hair and yet a nice softness to the face and skin. This is really outstanding. Good job!
