Post challenge:
Thanks to all voters and commenters.
I am happy with the high average from commenters.
Statistics of the winning images make me wonder if a b&w version would have done better. I thought color was more difficult and valuable, but what do I konw? :-)

Regardless the correct technical meaning of "candid" (I have read contradictory definitions) this is a NON POSED shot of a beggar sitting in the entrance of an old church downtown Lima. Taken on Peruvian Independence Day (July 28th) only a couple of blocks from "Plaza de Armas" (Main Square) and "Palacio de Gobierno" (Government Palace) when president Garcia had just given a speach about the economical prosperity of the country!!.
You may notice the poor old man is one-eyed, but the shot is not intended to show his disability but a typical social feature of our days, in this case remarked by the apparent indiference depicted by the back of the walker crossing the street.
I hope you like it.

Fully agree with posthumous. IMHO the B&W version of this picture is not nearly as powerful.

the color is essential to the painterly impact of this image.

Wonderful capture. Really tells a story. Congratulations on the 5th finish. Personally I do like the B&W version better. I believe that if colour is not essential to the theme of the picture, b&w simplifies the image and causes less distractions thereby focussing one's attention on the story - just my personal opinion.

This is another example of Alfredo's ability to capture the precise moment and mood, and then complete the effect by applying the optimal editing. Great finish brother !! I have no doubt that a string of ribbons will come your way.

Congratulations by the almost general recognition to an excellent photo. I think the anonimity of voters should be freed after the competition. It would not affect the following challenges. Once again, your photo has been voted with 1 and 2, and I don't see 1 or 2 at winning photos . It causes an irritating urticaria at "fair play" credibility zone.
(by the way, winning photos are also good)

I am most definitely not a fan of Joey Lawrence homeless people, but this is different. This guy has struck a pose, and not just any pose. He is Saint Francis receiving the stigmata. This is classical art.

Excellent shot. Nice capture of emotion and detail in the face, a good strong diagonal composition, and nice use of depth of field to separate the subject from the background. I'd like to see a little more room in the bottom left for the feet, but based on the rest of the image, that is a minor point. Very well done.

when I think of street photography, I don't really consider shooting the homeless as part of the genre. its just my personal opinion of course. I do like the guy in the background walking away as an added touch.
