There's something wrong about having to eat the dust of anything with "#2"...

During the shot: I had manually set the white balance for my camera, so I could shoot lots of JPGs quickly. This was shortly after the start of the race.

In Photoshop: Crop, Curves, "Soft light" trick with a separate layer to bring out the subjects, Sharpen, and resize.

Great action shot. I agree with Jayson that the contrast could be goosed a little (curves could do wonders here) but think it's still very well done.

I really need to get out to the track sometime and take some shots. Wonderful action. Love the framing with the flags in line above. Could do with a little contrast, but the techniques are right on.

Nice detail. Needs a touch more contrast and this would really pop.

This would be better, IMHO, with greater mid-tone contrast.

Actually think a bit slower shutter might have given this just the right amount of pleasing motion blur. Looks a little static to me and that pulls back the sense of energy. Might bump the contrast a bit as well.

Awesome shot! Maybe it's just my eyes, but it looks just a titch out of focus. probably just me. Good work!

Nice capture - Like the slight movement but lacking some punch in the contrast department.
