this was a totally huge mess up.

editing: crop & adjust levels.

the 411: shutter speed 1/10. focal length 200. i'm not sure which way i shook it. but, i was just really excited because i'd never seen baby deer that young. and i didnt want to open the door to go outside cus i knew i would scare them away. so i ran to the closest window with my camera, the window was dirty, i completely disregarded all settings and shot the pic. the next second they ran away and i was left with nothing but this blurry nonsense :)

Not nonsense, beautiful. So much clarity through the blurred elements; a painting of life in all its wonder.

Blurry huge mess... that works. :)

It's almost as if we (the viewer) are spying on them, without their knowledge. I like it! :)

Wow Shannon! Way to go "messing up" and coming up with something so incredibly artistic and cool to look at! This is awesome!

"Blurry nonsense." Huh. I'd say "cool photo that reminds me of a cave painting."

Isn't the concept of "mistake" so interesting?

Well it may not be the shot you were after, but there's something quite appealing about it. Until I read your comments I thought this was taken in heavy rain.

Simply beautiful. Nonsense? Nonsense! This is stunning. Dirty windows are the blurry photographer's best friend. Really quite beautiful.

Somehow the shake transforms the picture by turning the tree ?? in the background into some sort of fairytale landscape, like twinkling candles. Remarkable. Edit because now I see it's a hillside with rocks or something, not a tree at all. I could still be wrong but i'm not going to try to figure it out any more because that would spoil it.

hey shanny .. this is the best result .. i love the way it looks like a canvas in the background and the beautiful blur on the animals only makes this more special .. a feeling of impermanence heightened !! :) ..

Almost looks as if we are seeing them through a window with streaks. Kinda cool.

It feels like rain! Although blurry there is still an incredible amount of detail here, right down to those dots on the littlun's fur. Lovely accident! : )

Sometimes you just have to go with the flow. If everything had gone as planned, you probably wouldn't have as good as picture as this.

Very nice. The sparkly feeling of light gives this a sense of innocence that works so well with baby deer.

I'd guess you were shaking the camera up and down. Great dreamy effect, accidents like this are a revelation.

OK you need to stop calling this "blurry nonsense" right now. It is gorgeous, it has that lovely painterly quality that gives it the feeling of a very fleeting, very special moment captured almost as though it was a dream.

What a beautiful mistake, Shanny! The blur/softness suits the subject very well - it feels like one imagines the fur of a fawn might feel like. And there's just enough of a look from the fawn in the back, looking at you, maybe, to add another bit of interest to the shot. Add in your shutter speed and aperture, please, and indicate (if you remember) if you moved the camera, and which way. It looks as though it was swept from top to bottom or vice versa.
