from blurgeois pedagogues:

Blur is visual impairment. This is something it holds in common with emotion, which also inhibits a person's ability to see clearly.

QED, blur is emotional. It is a visual representation of emotion. This photo instantly makes me think, "Love Is Blind." Here we can see, right in front of us, how our love for someone makes it almost impossible for us to see him. He is so surrounded by our love that his own existence almost blinks out.

But notice how he is walking out of frame. Some day he must leave the nest of love to make something of himself. It requires courage. Not everyone succeeds at this. Some of us remain forever lost in other people's expectations and feelings about us.

But, for all its danger, look how beautiful it is, to see the caress of an abiding love revealing itself in everything about him, his shifting colors, his eroding outline, his Mona Lisa smile.

Great movement capture. But the part that is shear genius is the use of the whitespace. Really works well how you placed him!

A lovely study of lines, of delicate substance, of innocence. Delightful capture.

Love the vibrant orange and white background! There's just the right amount of motion in the head and arms, very striking!

Terrific use of neg space and the high key and attenuated limbs make for a really good picture.

This is gorgeous, I like that it's blurred enough to show an active boy but there's enough detail to show the expression on his face and his curls. A beautiful shot.

Simple, clean (blurry clean that is), great colors and man do I like how the washed out parts around the arms, neck and head play out. I am finding that these types of images are either very forgiving or just plain work well with what would normally be negative issues on a tack sharp image. Very nice work (as usual).

Oooh. That's nice. Terrific capture of a child's development. I like how he's the sharpest at the end of the movement, as if by aging, he becomes more solid.

Mia, you're such a powerful portraitist that these are awesome just vy virtue of your second nature...

great positioning in the frame, and I like that he's diagonal, and walking away from the negative space...cool!

WOW - this is fantastic. I love how he is almost like a dreamy caricature. Wonderful light, color and use of negative space. Sort of a painting look to it.

blur works so well for images of this kind, it can make ppl appear just about ghostly .. a great effect that can give an image an added depth of feeling .. i'm finding it hard to verbalise .. wot i'm saying is that this image, because of the blur and the boy's posture, has a strong emotive quality .. excellent .. :)
