Sometimes you get the urge to just make some art...
I had shot this as a back-up for the challenge and as the rest of the weekend became rainy and very un-shadow-y, I decided to fiddle with the image,
The image is indeed of shadows falling on a window in the morning. I took the original layer and duplicated it several times applying varying amounts of blending modes & opacities along with a few adjustment layers of hue & sat, levels and selective color.
I know this will tank but I'm not really in the mood to give a hoot because sometimes you get the urge...

POST CHALLENGE:
Yep, I was about due for a real voter unfriendly entry.
The grey bar across the top is a fence on the edge of my yard - I s'pose its presence detracts from the image, and it bugged me a little during editing but the image is really about how light interacts with so many different things in this particular composition: the dirt on the glass, the bug screen, the mint leaves just outside the window, the fence & stuff in my neighbors yard and, ultimately, the leaves that are casting the shadows themselves which really are the only thing in focus in the image.
Thanks for positive comments from those of you who liked the image - particularly whoever gave me a 10. I'm actually really glad to be back in the mode where I don't care so much if I get low scores from some - it's become quite apparent lately that half of the people on this site are fairly clueless - but I'll take 10s anyday!

| I thought this was so exquisite and assumed it would not do well. I gave you the 10 because I like the image a lot and think it's very inspired and emotive. I also gave you the 10 because I figured this photo is so un-dpc-esque that you be voted down for doing something out of the box. I like to encourage out of the box behavior. :o) |

man .. i totally love this image ..
i've been looking thru this challenge and cant believe some of the sucky scores that have been dished out .. usually when the image is slightly different or 'artistic' ... this one is a perfect case in point .. there's so much going on .. the colours are beautiful .. i love the green leaves at the bottom of the image .. it looks like a composite of at least two or three different images overlayed ...
when i was looking at your video in my space a huge thunderstorm came & i had to close everything down really really quick right when i was in the middle of the comment .. i had to register just to make that comment as well ... i'll have to go back and have another look .. :) |
