FYI - This is NOT the same bull/cow thing that I used in my "fill the frame" entry, check out the horns on this guy, they point upwards, on the "fill the frame" they point down..

Epping Forest.

Influenced by Alexsaberis "MAJESTIC" image.

Twas driving through the forest on my way to work the other day and saw they had these guys out in the glades. In spite of the scary pointy things on their head, they were actually very docile, although I admit I made sure I had an escape route in mind at all times. The grass was actually green but changed it to brown to give it a warm Autumnal feel. I like to think of this shot as an extension of my "Autumnal Fern" shot, the ferns and bokeh associated with it defintely have the same feel (and the shot was taken about 100 meters from where that other one was).

Processing wise I did the following.

In Lightroom -
Exposure up a tiny bit
Add clarity
Changed green grass to brown grass via the hue slider.
Export

Photoshop

Cloned out some flies
Tonemapped
Neatimage
USM
Duplicate layer
Desaturate new layer and add guassian blur, change layer mode to "Overlay", faded to 70% opacity.
Stamp to single layer
add vignette using lens distortion tool
add saturation layer and drop sat slightly.
add levels layer and upped the mid tone VERY slightly.
add border
resize..

WOW!!!! You could definitely have a gallery grouping with this one and your fill-the-frame guy. They both give new meaning to the word STUNNING!!!!!!!

Yeah right - this is the same cow. Expert editing means that you can twist the horns round and we would never know.

Good job though - I like the hue.

Hey this shot looks kind of cool but still, donĀ“t really care for that softfocus effect, gave a 7 despite that.

So well done! I love all the techniques you brought into play here - just a hair of sharpening around the face would have edged it one more for me << 9 >>

This image is like velvet. Chocolate velvet (if that makes any sense). I just love the processing and the color pallet. I think it really makes this image stand out. Also: spot on focus and I really love those ferns there for some reason.

Beautiful. I love the DOF, the dreamy feel, and the detail in the grass. Great post processing.

Very minor point, but there appears to be a stuck pixel left of the left horn?

I wish you had removed that one blade of grass leading up to his horn. Almost looks like a scratch. Otherwise this is one of the nicest photos I have seen so far.
