This woman frequents the Ice Palace in West Edmonton Mall. I think she does this more for fitness than anything else, as she doesn't do any of the more extreme moves that the young figure skaters do during their practices there. She just skates around gracefully, a few times per week.

Critique Club feedback -

I'mnot really qualified to critique graphical art, and to me this very much looks like graphical art. Were you going for a painted glass sort of look? I'm guessing yes in which case you nailed it.

There is no blur on the ice, the shadows just have soft edges... note the scratches in the ice. As far as focus/blur goes this is exactly how it looked out of the camera. I changed alot with colors (mostly on the skater; her gown was not transparent) and contrast but only applied light sharpening an zero blur.

original, provocative image, suggesting dreams but also darkness.

this would have been superb if you could have got her full shadow within the reflected light: a frame within a frame. Nonetheless, a good capture. 7. good luck.

Very strong photo. I think it was done in post processing, but can't be sure. Either way, very well done.

Interesting composition. I would like to see it with a completely white background as well.
