 A mosque on the grounds near the Victory Palace in Iraq. I'll have to see if I can get more history on it - lovely quiet place. This was taken in the evening - there's a small window of time when the light becomes soft and golden. It's quite nice then.

Editing - crop, levels, hue/sat, curves, smart sharpen, resize, add border. It's actually quite nice in B&W, too, but this is DPC... :-)

Here's a shot from brumer0 of the same place - much better!

Ahhh... you were able to capture it! What a great photo. Im going to try to add this to my portfolio in the coming months. I think the water around this mosque will be able to provide some great photos for me, just as it did you!

Beautiful sunset color on the building. I love the reflection in the water as well. Do you know what the tower is used for?

I'm delusional probably but there is always hope that the Victory Palace could become a tourist destination at some point. The golden light is lovely in this photograph.

Deb!!!! I'm in awe of this photo. I'm so happy it is yours. I really expected to see this with an honorable mention minimum, and was hoping for a ribbon for it. It is flawless and stunning!

Deb - your scores have been awesome lately! I'm so glad you are able to use your camera in Iraq after all - it must be a welcome distraction. This is a beautiful photo with gorgeous lighting. Edit to add: I love the reflection.

Congrats on the score, Deb - once again we're neighbors! :) My only nitpick was to think about cropping off some of the left side so the tower gets more out of the middle. It's kind of halfway out now, but that leaves composition uncomfortable to me. I realize that'd make it an even taller photo.

Back to comment: The lighting in this image is wonderful. You took this at the perfect time of day. I would have liked the negative space in this image to be on the right side of the image instead of the left, as the tree behind the Mosque isn't as dramatic as the sun light in front of the Mosque. Overall, a very nice image and worthy of an 8.
