I've been wanting to try a zoom blur for a while now. This is handheld - just twisted the zoom ring while pointing more or less at the batter.

I was in the upper deck, almost at the top of the stands, and my 70-200 at 200mm plus my 1.4 teleconverter gives me this kind of view. This is just a slight crop. I love this lens!

I needed F/32 to get a long enough exposure to finish zooming. Normally, of course, you lose some sharpness at that small an aperture, but for this project, that doesn't matter, does it? :)

I'm a sucker for shots like this. I like that amidst its abrstractedness (is that a word?) it retains recognizable baseball colors. It's got some interesting radial geometry also.

It's cool, just enough recognizable information but retains its abstractness.

I really like this shot! Maybe it's because I've been playing baseball since I could walk. Thought you might enjoy this one, my newest addition to the portfolio...

The color palette is great here, but what really captured me was the lines (the line from the bat and the line from the ball). Really like this one Jeffrey. Glad to have you back. Can't wait to see more from the trip.

Oh yeah!!! Love the yellow/green palette with the BLACK of the batter. That's cool.

Great use of zoom blur, Jeffrey. I particularly like how the field markings split your composition up.

I knew what this was without even seeing the title. Not too blurry, and not too clear. Just right.

From the thumbnail, it gives the impression of a bird flying away from home plate. In the larger version, the radiating lines focus attention on the batter and make the image look like a quick painting. Nice capture of the essence of the situation.

Love how the batter becomes so abstract, he becomes just flares of white.

hmm i should try this, it looks like a flower, have no idea what it really is. i have been experimenting with putting the camera on manual focus and deliberately taking pics outta focus, its skeery, keep thinking what if i missed an oportunity for a really good shot.

You did great to achieve this hand held. Well done! I can almost hear the crack of bat against ball! :)
