Two shots of the Star of India in the top 10. I shoulda figured it was you two, after reading about your exploits in the forums. Great shot! Congrats!

Great shot! And I was wondering if this was Star of India also. 3 of the top 10 in San Diego County. Woohoo! Of course we have an unfair advantage with everything there is to see here, but still...
I filled an 8GB CF card today at Quail Botanical Gardens in Encinitas with a great borrowed 2.8 zoom lens and then got busy and never submitted before the deadline. Doh!

Brad's may be more DPC friendly, but this has a quiet understated elegance, and I really love the clouds. Looks like they're working completely untethered to the earth, doesn't it?

Like I told you already Robert, I would hang yours on my wall before I'd hang my own, and it has nothing to do with mine not blending with the interior decor. (that I don't have btw)

I took a chance in my wild PP, and it payed off, but at a cost. The cost of not being something I would hang in my house.

A heartfelt congrats Robert - you won.

No net, but they all appear to have safety harneses. But yes, a risky buisiness up there!

Scary to think that these jobs were once done without harnesses. Great capture for this challenge. Only thing that could make it better is that it might be a bit crisper. Nice work though.

another great shot that meets the challenge, I would have liked to seen more of the ship and perhaps it would have enhanced how high they were great shot

Good one! Higher score if the photo screamed height by shooting from the base of the mast or something, now I have to interpolate that they are really high.

I like the composition.

Not bad but the darker areas are kindof too noisy for my taste, did you overdo it with something like shadow/highlights? Dig the lines and composition though, gave an 6.

Fantastic shot! Almost looks like it is above the clouds.

Nice capture - Like the lighting and nice composition - Wish we could see a little more of the height they were at though.

Beautiful shot; too bad the basic editing doesn't allow you to darken the sky a bit.

great shot for this challenge ... I'd be freaking out if I were up there with no safety net!

Exactly without a net. Nice choice of perspective to have the cross piece at the same elevation as the clouds. With no ship or water visible, I get the uneasy feeling of a vessle moving high through the sky (but the sailors don't look like the crew for Peter Pan). Wonderful image.

Yeeek! You couldn't *get* me to do that! Great shot!

Would have liked to see the symmetry of the rigging reflected in the composition.

Great composition. This has great potential. The boat seems to be pixelly however.

Hmmm...I'm gonna guess either Brad or Bear on this mast photo. I really like all the detail in this and how you kept it from getting too busy. Nicely done!

They are harnessed, where is the risk?

I like how you can't see the ocean.. With the clouds in the background it almost gives the illution of flying :)
