So considering my past three entries have tanked terribly I don't have the highest hopes for this shot. My mistake came with shooting this at 800ISO. I did that because the original one by larus was shot at 1600 because of the low light which added some cool noise and I thought oh how clever if i do the same thing....the sony doesn't take well to noise...not at all...and I wasn't thinking about that but then when I went to edit it the extra noise ruined a lot of it's potential for being sharp and crisp like the ribbon winner was. (larus is amazing!) So yeah I feel like I could have had a lot more detail in this but in the end I had a GREAT time with this shoot and love dirt now. It was smelly and messy and just awesome. the one thing about the dirt i missed was that in the original one it wasn't all potting soil, it was black makeup as well.....reading that ahead of time would have made the muddying up the face job much easier. meh oh well :) This is the first shoot I did with my new reflector! YAY

Nice!! Good emulation.

Wow! Great emulation of the original. You have an excellent dynamic range in your B&W tones. The clarity of details in wonderful especially in your model's face. My only critique is that I think you could have zoomed in a bit more to crop it just at neck level. The bottom 2/8 do nothing for the overall composition. Keep the focus squarely on your model by bringing the viewer up close and personal. Wonderful job you did here.

Another good Larus 'copy'. Has some of the same characteristics of his photos. 8

Very nice and high key just like the original image. Great job!

Impressive the details and similarity with the original, which leads me to think you put up a lot to come up with this image. Beautiful (and likely patient) model. It is really outstanding!
The only differences being their expressions(here more serene, the original more like "what's up") and a slight head tilt in the original. Absolutely nothing to take away your 10.

Well done! Btw, is she wearing lipstick? Her lips stand out a lot more than the original's but it's not a big deal.

The shot by Larus is one of my favorites of his wife Henny. This is a great tribute to that image. I don't know how you get such beautiful women to cover themselves with dirt for the sake of art but the results are wonderful.

fantastic! Amazing portrait technically in terms of focus, DoF, and composition. I think the expresion in Larus original is better but this is a great copy

Good focus on her face. The body seems a bit off to me though, it looks like her shoulders blend into the background. Still a good shot though.

Honored you chose one of mine to pay tribute to :) This one is very well done if the goal was to "copy" mine, it´s got the same look and it´s processed exactly as I would have processed mine. She´s got a diffrent expression than Henny did and I like that about it and the eyes definately grab one´s attention.

great shot...you did a great job of copying the style/setup...she just doesn't look into it at all. not trying to nitpick, but she doesn't seem to have any type of facial expression. it's almost like she doesn't want to be there. just my 2cents. you did a GREAT job with editing and setup...nice! 8!

The processing and technicals is very good and if I remmeber correctly very similar to Larus's photo but i feel there is a bit too much dirt.

The original is one of my favorite pics of all time. You did a great job on this. She's just a little too dirty.
