My son, jumping up from tall grasses at a nearby man made lake.

Crop
Adjust hue/saturation: colorize yellow
Adjust curves
Sharpen, faded in normal mode 58%

Proof positive that anything not stock photo worthy isn't well received here. I did the crop intentionally to showcase the arms and make his body the central point of interest. It's ok. I appreciate the comments by those who "got it." ;~D

I love the expression of movement captured so artistically in this photo! Hmmm...technically, I do see a halo around your silhouette which is an issue I always struggle with as well in my own photos and usually I have to fiddle with my sharpening technique to get a really clean silhouette!

I love this shot. It really conveys a sense of movement, you can almost feel him jumping in the air, and the effect of motion blur on his hands works really well. The crop, composition and angle really add to this.

I love the grain and the tone in the background as well.

Wow! I love this. Had I voted on the challenge, this would have gotten a 10.

I was one of the "10" votes. This shot rocks! The title is perfect, too. I like the energy, the offbeat crop, the way all elements support the 'flying.' Especially I like the top/bottom crop, which for me adds to the high energy. It brings me back to that exact same feeling I had as a kid (that we all did).

I don't think this is a winning entry, by far. I don't like the composition or the movement. You are cropping the image at odd places. The colors are ok but a little flat.

What I like about it is that it is a good moment and silhouette.

I would think that something like 5.5 would be fair for this one.

I love how only the hands are blurred, and they seem to be flaring out like fans. I also like the close crop. s/he cannot be contained!

What joy! I love how the hands are blured but the hair is not. The bit of plantlife grounds it. I like.

I don't care for how this one is framed/cropped: it's clunky.
09/19/2007 05:14:36 PM
I love the motion blur. Haven't seen a lot of that in this challenge.

Crop detracts from the composition.
