This is so eerie yet almost comforting. Beautiful to take in. You kept some type of same texture throughout the shot that I really enjoy.

Yep, this one's also excellent! (Just looked at other similar photos in portfolio)

I really love the photo..fantastic one..not sure how it will do because it may not have dof in alot of peoples eyes...but its enough for me. Nice job.

What a beautiful picture this is! But I dont really see a shallow DOF here.. ?
02/15/2004 04:22:37 PM
Beautiful picture, but even most parts of the fore and background are in reasonable focus. That does not comply with this challenge, since it is about Shallow DOF.

This is a really nice photo. I cannot see how it fits this challenge. The framing and the toning is really well done. It's not very dynamic and it is a little dreary, but its not a bad shot.

Very nice image with a big ugly border.... However, your DOF does not appear to be very shallow. In fact, this would fit much better in a soft focus challenge!

This style looks familiar, so can hardly wait to see whose shot this is. I love the shot. I'm not entirely crazy about the border - it seems to draw my eyes away from the photo, and that's a sorry shame, 'cause the photo is a thing of beauty. 10

this is a stunning image, although, i'm having a hard time relating it to the challenge topic. judging it solely on it's own, it's beautiful. the tones and softness work well...except...the horizon is tilted. :( easily corrected in your photo editing software.

This is gorgeous, looks like a painting. You did an excellent job capturing this shot, and your detail is superb.
02/14/2004 12:30:45 AM
The border is a bit much.... great image though. 9

I really like this photo, but I don't see how it qualifies as shallow DOF. It really is beautiful though.

Beautiful picture, but I see absolutely nothing to do with SHALLOW DOF. Everything looks like a soft focus to me. I think the border could have been a little more subtle as well. But I see no way that this picture fits the challenge.

This is not a shallow DOF photo. Great landscape but not shallow DOF. 4
02/13/2004 08:38:14 AM
Very nice black & white!
02/12/2004 11:13:01 PM
I don't see a 'shallow' depth of field.
02/12/2004 10:53:15 AM
Great.
02/12/2004 08:23:44 AM
great picture but doesn't meet the challenge in my opinion.
02/12/2004 03:18:59 AM
This is a beautiful image. I really like the subject matter, composition and the choice of black and white, but I'm not entirely sure how this meets the shallow depth of field criteria.

If you'd like to point out how you feel this image adheres to the challenge rules, please respond to this comment and I'll rethink my vote...because I really like this shot.
02/12/2004 02:50:16 AM
a straight horizon would help out. i really like your picture and the toning.
02/11/2004 06:44:21 PM
Very lovely shot with magnificent composition. I have a hard time seeing DOF at work here, but this is a masterful photo anyway!
02/11/2004 11:48:59 AM
I know you've probablye been told this but this is the opposite of Shallow DOF (unless I'm missing something). It is, however, a fantastic picture. Better than anything I've ever taken.
02/11/2004 10:59:00 AM
Wonderful photo, but I don't think it effectively shows the shallow depth of field asked for in this challenge
02/11/2004 07:56:40 AM
The shallow DOF is hard to see in this one.
02/10/2004 10:14:14 PM
A gorgeous shot, immaculately and sensitively rendered, which (o so unfortunately!) is presented with an extremely distracting border, redundant and, to my senses, inappropiate for such a fine image. The horizon suffers from a marked, albeit correctable, counter-clockwise tilt (which, oddly, contributes balance via the increased weight on the lower right of the image).

Yet, the filigrée lines, which outline and order this deliciously lighted, sepia-hued expanse, the leaning old tree with its wicker of branches, the, apparently, pure snow under a changeable sky, the minute distinctions...

are exquisite.
Everything one would expect from a great photo is here. It's undeniable faults are easily correctable.
Needless to say, to rate this entry is not an easy matter. ;-)

Great picture but I don't feel this presents a Shallow Depth of field has asked.
02/10/2004 08:10:40 PM
Beautiful, but missing the brief - this is long Depth Of Field (literally!). Got to score it low for that reason I'm afraid, but outside of the challenge this is lovely.
02/10/2004 06:22:01 PM
this is a nice photo no doubt - doesn't seem to have too shallow a focus though...

02/10/2004 10:42:55 AM
A very nice shot (although I may have straightened the horizon a bit), but I don't see how it meets the challenge specifications...
02/10/2004 12:01:39 AM
Lovely photo, very prestine. No obvious DOF.
02/09/2004 10:32:08 PM
I truly love this shot, but I don't think it realy fits in the shallow depth a field area. Landscape like this is really hard to control the DOF in, because mostly you are shooting a infinity
02/09/2004 10:01:14 PM
absolutely gorgeous lanscape. I don't know that I would characterize this as shallow DOF, but it's a great image. the metal loops on the right are a little distracting, though.
02/09/2004 07:43:51 PM
nice scene,10...
02/09/2004 01:13:40 PM
Stunning shot. I like this very much..bravo. 9

A beautiful image - great composition, strongly conveys a sense of mood. Doesn't strike me as shallow DOF.
02/09/2004 10:56:46 AM
Beautiful shot. I'm sorry, but I don't see the 'Shallow DOF' here.
02/09/2004 08:23:52 AM
Beautiful shot, doesnt meet the challenge though if you ask me. This should go on your wall.
02/09/2004 07:03:53 AM
A magical image, apart from two things. The Border, the contrast of which ruins the delicacy of the image for me (and did you add one border, sharpen and then add the other?) - as I look at this that big white rectangle constantly imposes itself on my eye; and it njust doesn't sem to be applying the technique at all.
02/09/2004 04:18:03 AM
This does not appear to demonstrate shallow DoF.
02/09/2004 03:38:49 AM
shallow DOF?
02/09/2004 03:16:08 AM
A beautiful photo but the shallow DOF eludes me
02/09/2004 01:55:40 AM
Wonderful photo but I don't know if it qualifies as Shallow DOF.
02/09/2004 12:24:56 AM
beautiful scene.. not a good example of shallow depth of field..
02/09/2004 12:20:15 AM
this is a trulky beautiful and amazing photograph, but is it shallwo DOF? can you please offer me some explanation so i can vote this higher as its photographic integrity deserves.
