In Montana, these crosses mark spots along the highways where fatalities have occured. On this stretch of highway (approx 40 miles), I counted 11 crosses. This was the best one that captured what I wanted this photo to mean. I hope it meets the challange of negative space.

For some reason this looks like a photograph you'd see on one of those unsolved murder shows. I'm not sure it's an optimal use for negative space, though.

Too white, not enough color variation, not rich or vibrant enough, feels dull and washed out.

Excellent message. my position would be lower, encompassing more of the background, but have the lens opened up wide to shrink DOF, and focus on the crucifix.

sorry, I don't like your photo very much, for the sad subject it lacks drama, the background is a little to busy and it is not a great use of neg space

I have seen these before, they are kind of scary. I saw allot of these on the backroad highways in Mexico. It seemed like most of them were on hills. It was like they kept trying to pass on a hill and would get hit.

I don't feel that this photograph has what i'd call "negative space" in it; the background seems rather busy to me. Besides that, I dont like the washed-out colors, or lack of sharpness. 3 -lennier

A moving shot. Really speaks the old addage about 1,000 words.

I had considered doing a shot something like this for my black and white challenge. The scrubby background adds to the emotion (IMO). Flowers might have been a nice touch, but might have added too much color. 9 Swash

Good composition but lacking in contrast between cross and background. Background is a little bland.
I appreciate that perhaps this is about the negative space left behind by the person this cross commemorates. In my mind though the challenge is about visual not emotional negative space.

Depressing.

its really weird how there are so many cross pictures this week, when i don't think i have seen any previously other than on buildings in other challenges.

eerie. unfortunately we see too many of these. I like the "negative space" having the road in the background. The lighting is good, and the angle and framing are also good. this almost looks like a black and white, but I don't think it is. did you try it as black and white? Overall nice depiction of negative space. good luck in the challenge. ~hbunch7187~

I dont really see the negative space. Too much going on in the background

Visual impact. Poor focus and a bit over exposed but I like the over all feel. Score 7 Justine
