-Channel Mixer, Monochrome set to Luminosity
-Duplicate background, blur - mask (noise reduction)
-Saturate to compensate for JPG loss
-Burn the black of the eye a bit to reduce the sand distraction

Great shot. Just the right mix of sharpness & blur. Skillful use of DOF. IMHO, this should have scored much higher, at least top 20.

Lol - when your image first popped up, I said "eww" then I saw your titled and laughed. Really good closeup. composition and lighting are good as well.

I love the title of this! But not as much as I love the photo itself. The colors are amazing, and the detail and clarity on this guys face is astounding. Great job.

GOOD GRIEF!!!! Excellent. Not a reptile lover but this is truly spectacular. Would work great in a wildlife magazine.
