Karen, a classic example of how to make something simple a thing of beauty. So many wonderful touches here. The great leading lines, the placement of the lighthouse on a rule of third intersection and a sky and clouds which I find truely breathtaking

Strong diagonal/S-curve and perspective (great depth because of it), excellent detail in both shadows and highlights, good (tasteful) colour rendition. Quite a satisfying, maritime landscape, well placed and seen in portrait format.

| This is an excellent photo, but I just wanted to make a brief comment on the composition. I'm not sure how this could be corrected within your shooting environment either. The only point of discomfort within this composition is the point at which the horizon and your subject come together. This feeling is reminiscent of the water horizon cutting off the head of a person on the beach or lake shore. This composition would be significantly stronger with the horizon line either above the top of the lighthouse or closer to the bottom of it. |
