Selctive focus is usually achieved when part of the picture in INTENTIONALLY OOF and part of it is in sharp focus. This photo is completely out of focus. No wonder it ranked in the last place position.

I think you may have learned a valuable lesson here... what is interesting to you personally is quite often not as interesting to others. Your photos need stand out quality for other people who are not related to say WOW.

Hope this helps :)

Lots of movement here......yes I see she is on a swing/slide. Not a very interesting or high quailty shot. The light is very harsh. Of course to you personally because you know her I'm sure the feeling is different. :)

Maybe a head on shot would have reduced the blur of the subjects face.

I'm not exactly sure what this shot means to you. Something tells me it means a great deal so I'll try to convey what I see. For me, the lighting is to bright, and the fact that no part of the picture is in focus is distracting. Maybe a higher shutter speed would've fixed that. As for the composition, it's pretty good, I like the post on the left, although I would have liked to see the right hand and more of the subject. score: 4 Well done nontheless! Good luck!

To me, this is just a poorly focused snap. Is the connection to the theme that the subject is in a "no-hands" position? If so, that's not really clear (no pun) either. Since everything is out of focus -- the subject and the background -- it's difficult to look at this image for long.

she is a happy looking girl, and it looks like she had a lot of fun posing for this picture... that's all i could make out in this blurred overexposed motion... there are so many ways you can improve on this...

Interesting idea, but it is too blurry to convey a message...

Cannot fathom the photographer's intention here. If it is the motion capture then it is not evident from the picture. If it is the expression on subject's face then also it is not clear. The picture is overexposed.

I rarely give out 1's, but I did on this photo and so I would like to comment to tell you why. I think I understand why you might have submitted such a blurry, unfocused shot, trying to show motion, but in this case, it simply doesn't work. It's bothersome to the eye since there is absolutely nothing in focus. The overexposure is unappealing and washes out the details of the child's face and, particularly, smile. The pole on the left suggests there may be something of interest over there, but since we don't know what, it's unimportant to the shot and perhaps even a distraction (as is the blue thing in the background). In my opinion, this is just a snapshot gone horribly wrong. I propose trying again only this time, work to capture that expression instead of hiding it behind a big bright blur.

Welcome to last place. Why would you submit this to a photography contest?

i understand the idea you were going after, however, the picture is verymuch like my kid takes on a disposable camera.

Sorry, sometimes we need to speak... What is this? This seems to be taked by a 2 years boy or when you take the camera and accidentally press the shutter-release. I can´t describe how strange is this picture. May be you can really post is by this same though. Letting go the picture out. Well it´s your tast, I respect it. But to me it is not a photography.
