My first attempt at using a textured overlay. I can see how this could become rather addictive! Background is a portrait of my son, Daniel, and the top layer is a shot of my rain streaked windshield, converted to b&w with opacity reduced.

it's almost a shame to cover up the clarity in his eyes.

Turned out well. I think blended layers can be tricky, because it's easy to have a heavy hand when doing it. This looks genuinely photographic, which is good, and I wouldn't have guessed there were any additions here - it simply looks as though he's behind some rainy surface. I think you should keep experimenting; I'd also suggest those layers that make it look as though the surface of the photo is somehow textured, and take pictures of such surfaces when you can (they don't always turn out though). Sorry for the long comment, but I'd be really interested in seeing more like this!

Oh, Erin! You did a fantastic job! His expression is so moody, with just a touch of melancholy, which fits so perfectly with the rain. It looks like he's looking out the window to a rainy dreary day.

Beautiful work, Erin! Isn't this fun ? :)
