A European garden spider (Araneus diadematus) I found outside my back door. I've been watching her for a while and had some other pictures, but the flash really made the image pop and let me use full aperture. Taken using a reversed Nikon-H 50mm F/2.0.

Not wild about the legs being out of focus, but not really anything I can do. The image is shocking at full resolution since each hair shows up.

Flash: Sunpak 383 at 1/16 camera lower left, maybe 6 inches away (covered with copy-paper to cut down on strength). Sun at camera upper right.

Great DOF and clarity on subject. Good composition also. Nice work.

Pinkish area at the left edge is distracting.

I could see this in National Geographic. Great job!
