I lay on my back in a pile of who knows what to get this photo - I'll just pretend it was dead leaves :-) These are small draft horses used at Middleton Plantation near Charleston. Very friendly - hard to get them to stay still enough for a decent exposure, especially since it was overcast with deep shadows. Set to open shade setting to warm and bring out rich browns in their coats.

Opened in raw, pushed exposure by 1.5 stops, upped saturation. Opened in PS, curves, increased selective color channel (red) by about 10%, increased overall saturation by about 10%.

Catherine, this is a fantastic POV, IMO. Got a 10 from me. I really should have commented, but you know how those things go ...

Nice knees. You captured a lot of personality in the background horse. He's probably wondering why the crazy lady is rolling in that stuff. :P

Love the richness of the browns and the textures of the forward horse.

Very effective use of pov, and I like how you framed it, choosing to put both horses in the composition. The background horse sort of acts as a dynamic frame of reference for the foreground one. If you had gone with just presenting us with those horsey legs, it likely would have been a less interesting comp. The more I look at this the more I am impressed with your choice in framing the scene.

Now that is a wonderful point of view. Good scale and the framing is top notch. Didn't hit a six this time, but should have.
