Ok so this is WAY out of left field.

I took my model (husband - GRIN!) into a dark room and played about with bounce flash ONLY! No other light, just my Sunpak flash attached to my camera but on the tripod at 90 degrees counterclockwise. I played with the angle of the flash and also used a large piece of white corflute to manipulate the 'bounce'.

Had LOADS of misses and a few I liked.

The played ridiculously in photoshop with this image - looks a bit unreal I know, but it's kinda nice to see my husband in a different light - GRIN!

Meanwhile he barely recognises himself, can't stand the pronounced freckles and life marks on his face - but strangely did appreciate me using the burn tool to slim down his face!

Not everyone's taste but a VERY good exercise in lighting!

I love the words you used - "life marks"

Wonderful pic. Love the gaze - it really pulls you in.

Very nice lighting. The catch lights are wonderful. I never figured out how to do this kind of processing, but it is good stuff.
