This is my co worker/one of my models in the office :) She was very nice to go to the train station for this photo. My idea of waiting train with luggage was ok, but her idea sitting down gave much better depth to the photo. I used my brand new Canon 50 f1.8 lens, awesome thing, first time for DPC. This is Horizontal flipped image because she was looking at the other way, which could cause some negative comments, but the other side of the track was very busy with tons of things, like poles, signs etc. Color version was good too, but B&W gave much more dramatic view to it. I had to crop the image a bit also. A cloudy day gave me much better ton affect, instead of sunny weather with lots of bright areas; this came out to be right time for us to take the picture. I hope this photo actually sent the right message to most voters and viewers :)
------------------------

Thank you for your good votes and good words. I am very honored to follow Larus but next time he won't be that lucky ;)

As for the lens,

Got it, Shot it, Won it :)

My first try, and ribbon. Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II a very good lens to take pictures.

Pretty cliched photo. Might be nice if you showed a little of her face. Not really all that interesting and the story isn't all that original.

nice photos, you must have a very expensive camera ;)

but really, just read your own comments on this photo,
"My first try, and ribbon. Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II a very good lens to take pictures."
why would you have said that?

frankly, i wouldn't be able to pull that kind of DOF with my cheap gear.
stand too near and i wont get her entirely in the photo, stand too far and i lost the shallow DOF.

so... hope i made my point ;) no offense, k?

Terrific the way that this image evokes a whole slew of feelings of abandonment, loss of hope, and yet a yearning for adventure, too. Love this shot!

Congratulations on your 2nd Ribbon, great picture. It looks like a scene out of a B movie. I would've liked the vanishing-point of the tracks to be in front of the girls eyes or behind her head.
The triangle behind her head is distracting.

Hey grats! Way to break in the new lens. As for Larus and next time, he's got as many ribbons coming as he cares to enter those shots again and again lol. Good luck with that.

Would have be a 7 if the dof was such that you could clearly see the distance. 6 ++

one of my ribbon picks -- like the story, dof is quite perfect, b&w tones add to the composition in a powerful way

I like this very much. The pose of your model iss pot on, as is the composition as a whole. My only slight, tiny, weeny disappointment is that rather than disapppearing to a vanishing point, the railway line ends rather abruptly with a horizontal line. Excellent work.

I like the dof in this shot and the direction of her eyes with the lines of the track help lead me into looking off into the distance, nice b&w conversion.
