I LOVE the dramatic atmosphere! Splendid shot.
06/12/2005 12:42:48 AM
Very nice. Maybe a tad fuzzy, but for that type of photo - it's perfect.
10/03/2004 02:32:40 PM
I feel this is overprocessed too, way too much burning.
02/24/2004 01:28:34 AM
I couldnt vote on this challenge as my computer crashed from a lightening storm
But congratulations on a well deserved ribbon
I love your image

Wow... awesome shot! Congrats Jon - well deserved ribbon. Excellent work :-)
02/23/2004 06:30:00 AM
Congrats Jon,
A very atmospheric image that I would have absolutely no chance of attaining by the methods you used.(I must start reading books on this stuff)
Having said that...with the weather we get up here, I might not need to tweak the image :)

Great work.

Wonderful, well done and congrats.
02/23/2004 12:40:46 AM
I suspected heavy burning. Used to good effect. Would that count for the fire challenge? (haha stupid joke). Outstanding photo. Congrats.
02/23/2004 12:11:48 AM
Very exciting work, Jon. Congratulations on the ribbon!
02/23/2004 12:06:15 AM

WOW! Great feeling here.
02/22/2004 08:09:47 PM
Nice photo
02/22/2004 05:41:39 PM
the rays of light coming through the dark ominous clouds is great. Your choice of B&W works well here too.
02/22/2004 05:12:34 PM
My favorite of the challenge. Very dramatic photo and lots of good work in photoshop i guess. 10
02/21/2004 08:23:38 PM
Quite dramatic stuff with some nice touches. You've pushed the contrast quite hard though and the noise is more apparent. I would probably have cloned out every other detail in ths frame apart from just the tree.
02/21/2004 07:25:09 PM
Great shot.
02/21/2004 11:13:28 AM
Dramatic and good.
02/21/2004 11:08:29 AM
A dramatic and striking landscape with a very brooding atmosphere conveyed by the clouds and light.
02/21/2004 10:23:41 AM
This looks like a scene from "Widard of OZ". You have captured three of thee lemens and would have had fire if only there were a lightning bolt. My best pick so far. 9
02/21/2004 08:08:30 AM
This totally reminds me of the Wizard of Oz. Great capture of the clouds and talk about a photo with mood. This one is great. I would actually prefer to see this zoomed in just a little bigger. I would chop a little off the right side and nix the border... You can barely see it anyway. Great job not withstanding. 9
02/20/2004 06:03:33 PM
are the sky rea?l (no photoshop) good job! top 3- 10pt
02/20/2004 10:58:29 AM
Nice sense of the texture of the earth. I also like the sun's rays breaking through the clouds (water). This picture works well in black and white.
02/20/2004 12:35:15 AM
This is very moody. Looks like a tornado is on the way or somehting. I love it!
02/19/2004 10:03:16 PM
Very nice, but I don't agree with your title. The sky here is MUCH more dramatic than the earth... Great job of B/W
02/19/2004 05:15:53 PM
Dramatic effect of the light shining on the tree, good luck.
02/19/2004 05:10:12 PM
Love the vastness of this photo with the lone tree and the light shining right down on it. What a great capture!
02/19/2004 04:43:07 PM
moody, great!
02/19/2004 04:39:51 PM
Dark and moody, great!
02/18/2004 10:06:00 PM
What a great find. Good idea in b & W
02/18/2004 05:36:46 PM
GREAT SHOT! Love this.
02/18/2004 04:07:48 PM
this is one of my top 5 pics for the challenge. Very nice. I love the beams of light filtering though the clouds. Did you use an infared filter?
02/17/2004 09:08:27 PM
So intense. I was looking for the witch in the tornado. Great, rich b&w. Earth wind and water are all felt. 9
02/17/2004 05:23:26 PM
Very nice B&W. Great contrast and composition.
02/17/2004 04:18:50 PM
Do you know the feeling when you look at the picture and
someone in you says "wow, that's awesome"??
I do know! ;))
Picture is great!! I like it alot! Too bad I cant give you my vote :( sorry
It would be 10!

Realy nice shoot!
Regards,
Tomislav.

wow Dorothy, there's no place like home. i can almost feel the imenant storm.
02/17/2004 12:16:52 PM
Great timing. B&W works well here. Nice shot.
02/16/2004 10:12:14 PM
this reminds me of 1930's depression era south...a la "oh, brother where art thou"..really beautiful
02/16/2004 09:41:55 PM
I love the surreal feeling of this photograph. It feels like God has opened the sky and is looking at this lone tree in the field. Those subtle sun beams really add a lot of strength to this image. I feel like I'm standing in this scene and the 'elements' are angry. Beautiful photo...
02/16/2004 07:31:41 PM
Great energy in this...The Grapes of Rath..cool shot. My compliments.
02/16/2004 06:42:29 PM
Very errie......
02/16/2004 05:32:34 PM
Really like the sky, lone tree adds interest to the mid-ground. One of my favs
02/16/2004 05:03:15 PM
Nicely observed. Simple yet effective.
02/16/2004 04:09:36 AM
Was it a snapshot or did you have to wait for the light to fall on the tree?
02/16/2004 03:09:05 AM
wow, amazingly dramatic sky. great job.
02/16/2004 01:01:21 AM
This ominous feel is amazing. It's still a bit too dark for me, but great image! 8
