OK....I was totally stumped as to what to shoot for this. I shot the end of a calla lily, ends of straws and the ends of a hank of rope....which I bought for the rope challenge and never used and won't be in this one either. Someday maybe you'll see it but not yet. It's very nice.
When I was reviewing the images I took today, I saw this, the first image I shot this morning. I was trying to decide a white balance to shoot the soloist for the service (a cellist who also accompanied us in the anthem today). I saw the dapples of color on the wall at the back of the church from windows outside the picture. So I took a shot of it and there is the light and dark going on around the window and the bottom. So I thought of the Beginning and the End or Alpha and Omega. Now this is the Beginning of the service which means that after the communion there will be the end of the fast (traditional, I'm not sure any really does it anymore). Also the end of night, the beginning of day. DNMC away if you will it suffices for me.
Technically, this is not a great shot at all so I understand if it does not do well. I am happy with it.
Post: Convert from raw in PSElements 3.0 with -0.67 exposure compensation and changed the white balance to direct sunlight. Layer adjustments for levels, brightness/contrast and hue saturation. Tried a layer of curves but discarded it. Sharpen. Crop. Resize. Sharpen. While writing this, I went back and added another layer of hue/saturation and then a healthy dose of USM. Resize. Sharpen. Then I went back to the uncropped version and did the same hue/sat and USM and went with a resized, sharpen version of it.
Oh...and pax vobiscum to you all! |
