Took me awhile to think of something, so I didn't get started on this one until Sunday afternoon!
Hope everyone recognizes this from the movie :O)
Setup:
My wife attached a new set of leaves to the apple stem, to make it look more like the actual painting.
Screwed a fishing line into the apple, and hung it from a mic stand. Sat behind the apple, and shot with a remote trigger. The lighting was tough on this, as I was trying to replicate the painting from the movie.
The Boler hat's that I could find were all way too short, so I had to cut the top off of one, and add it to another. Also - didn't have a red tie, so changed a black one to red using selective color.
pp:
convert from RAW
crop
selective color (& sat) to change the tie to red, and the bottom boler hat to black
curves
cloned out the fishing line, a shadow in the "sky" and some stray hat material where they joined together
photo filter (green)
more curves
channels
resize
usm
add noise (hope i don't get killed for this)
add border

Very nice! I love the movie and the painting The Son of Man by René Magritte. You have captured this nicely. |

Lookes too 2-dimensional to me...maybe it supposed to be like that but it doesn't excite me. |

This is good, but it appears to be a title and not a scene. |

One of my favorite movies, and one of my favorite paintings. Here's one of my attempts from the early days on the site:
Since that challenge was in Basic, I couldn't clone out fishing line. I had to skewer the apple on the end of a wooden spoon, and hold the spoon in my mouth!
A 10 from me for brilliant execution. |

Fantastic lighting: the apple has a great 3D-feel whereas the portrait is flat like a pancake. Worthy of Matisse! |

Interesting image - the apple seems a bit 'pasted' onto the image - but i like the centered composition here. |

Great idea and setup. A little noisy for my taste. But the colors are great and so is the composition. Nice work. |
