Really nice conversion with great resolution. It'd be interesting to know your RGB values in the channel mixer or your workflow.

Only we colorblind folks know how wonderful the tones of a nice b/w photo are, JJ, and this image certainly has them! I for one am now hungry!

Just to explain the small peak of lower scores for this photo, although it is technically good, I think others, like me, found the image as a whole unappealing. In other words, I look at it and don't think: "What a clean photo that shows off texture"; I think: "I would never want to eat this abnormally veined, gray cabbage, and I want better presentation of it" -- it's a little unsettling.

modest perhaps but elevated by your eye/camera

As has been said, the texture really does jump out at you! It really conveys the intricacies of even the most overlooked organic objects. Black and white works very well.

I'll skip that meal JJ... I hate cabage! Buark! But your shot is, once again... superbe!

Soup? I steam the leaves very gently, and serve mashed and peppered swede on them ... great colour-impact on your food!

Nice photo, imo this would have been better in color. the different tones of green would highlight the texture better... just a thought, beautiful nevertheless

Great textures. Did desaturating this increase the effect? I think that maybe a little colour would have really helped this shot with another dimension. 8

I quit. Anybody wanta buy a G2 with only 12,000 pix on it? I will NEVER shoot this exquisite a photo if I live to 600 years old. DANG, that is GORGEOUS! BRAVISSIMO! (And I've voted on 86% of this challenge before I saw this. Man, am I glad I kept going!) 10, but it should be higher!

Awesome! My two favorite shots for this challenge are vegetable shots in black and white. As I said in the other one, I find the choice of b+w to be very bold and successful as well. Reminds me of a brain (I'm in a lot of anatomy classes in school this semester). The brain is a terrible thing to eat. 10

And a beautifully photographed one at that. Great sense of texture - I almost took the same shot myself. Great light, perfect exposure, functions well in black and white, though might still function well in colour I would think - has the look of being that very dark green that is so appealing. I do feel you might have allowed a touch more room between it and your frame, it feels just a bit cramped to me. Top work

Not an interesting subject.....but SO well done! I like how it fills the frame and really love the lighting and focus....makes the texture just jump right out at ya. So, the photo itself MAKES this an interesting piece and I think it should place very well. I also like the border.
