No Lucis or other plugins here, Rene explained that he under-exposed by 2 stops (measuring on the sky) and used 2 lights (probably monolights) to lit himself, one from the front (and probably below) and and the second one from behind (to his right). Intended or not, it is apparent that the latter provided additional lighting to his left side by reflecting in the sliding glass door. He then dodged/burnt and partially desaturated the red channel, that's it. The result is obviously stunning. The message is the one we all know but tend to forget so often: proper lighting and exposure is what really counts.

Excellent photo! Has a slight artistic, painterly flair to it...similar to the animated effects of The Polar Express. I really like this! :) An obvious 10! Congratulations! :)

Cropping tighter not to include the light or the sun would've made it much better IMO. I dont like this type of processing.

hi fellas.

thanks for the support,

well here it is, many are going to be disapointment with this:
pp was desaturate red tones , my face was red . then dodge and burn and finally sharpen.

the hdr look is cause i sub exposed the sky 2 steps to mke it darker. oh and i also used a polarizer
the lightning is he key mighty dpc friends.
lets spend or money on lightning!!
12/12/2007 05:29:49 PM

Yeah a tutorial on the post processing of that would be great....or even some tips. HDR?

A few days ago I saw a French film, Banlieue 13 is the name, and this image just reminded me of the movie. The guy in the movie there is full of tattoos and fights to protect his neighbourhood by jumping from building to building (I couldn't see whether he had a spider's toatto). Anyhow, if he had a camera, he'd look just like you. I enjoyed the film, and I'm enjoying your photo. I hope I can remember this longer than the film, though.

Love the processing, and would love a tutorial on how you do it. The only reason you get a 9 and not a 10 is because your right arm looks like it's bicep is falling out of place.
