A very good choice of subject for the challenge I think you got some fair comments as to why voters might not have liked it as much as you did, too. That makes it a very good entry! You liked it, some didn't like it and they took the time to tell you why. To me, the centered thing kinda makes it static (well, duh! It's a fencepost! It ain't supposed to go anywhere... but you know what I mean.) Also, it does appear a bit oversharpened but that's very hard to avoid when resizing to fit the 640 pixel limit - no doubt this is not a problem at a fuller size.

I think you did an excellent job with this and met the challenge better than a lot of entries above this !

You gotta love the beauty an ice storm leaves and at the same time hate the distruction. Lighting and exposure here seem ok but the composition might have worked better from below putting the subject against the sky OR from higher up putting the subject against the yellow-green field. But shooting straight on leaves this too distracting for me. The eye just won't settle on anything.

Oversharpened?

Lovely icicles. The horizon seems a bit too centered. I have run into the same with shots like this. A low perspective against the sky or a higher one against the field may have worked better. Perhaps a close up would have impact. Lots of potential here.

Post is a little too centered for my tastes and I think there is too much sky. I do like the subject matter, though, and all the ice. Might be a bit too contrasty for some.

I would've cropped a little more sky, but pretty cool as is.

Maybe closer approach, more detail, less background would have given more drama, focused the beauty more.
