The casket is empty. I hope. I assume it's there as a point of reference to set up everything else.

Long time Speaker of the House Tom Murphy died earlier this week, and he will lie in state in the Capitol Rotunda on Friday, Dec 21. In an unusual move, the building will be closed except for events involving Speaker Murphy, which means I get the day off.

I really wish I had brought my wide angle lens to work; the 28mm on the Tamron couldn't get the whole Rotunda in the shot, even from the 4th floor, where this was taken.

I thought this would be an appropriate and interesting entry in a "Slice of Life" project. Death, after all, is a part of life.

Excellent composition. It's almost an abstract - I had to look at it for a while to get all the various elements.

Nice composition, the black carpet comes across nicely, and it fits the whole "death as a part of life" thought.
