Challenge: Free Study 2008-01 (Advanced Editing VI ("Time Lapse"))
Camera: Canon EOS-1D Mark IIn
Lens: Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 I
Location: spare room

Aperture: 7.1
ISO: 1600

Am up against MAK in the Jan FS and hoping this does well. Not as easy to shoot as I first thought. Set up the 580EX on the cam and messed with the 430EX behind and to the side then I sat down with wired remote in hand whilst I began thumping myself! Looking at the first 'round' of images I realised I needed to put the left boxing glove on my right hand to make things look right (or left lol) and popped the other glove on a spare tripod.

Never quite got the splash of sweat I was after but this image stood out with the facial expression and bent nose and thus the title 'Amorphous' This shot was the last of the day as it gave me a headache! Am now thinking setting fire to myself is a softer option ;) I do hope I beat this score and maybe hit that elusive 7?

Editing was a pain but settled for a B&W conversion with more than a little D&B'ing to enhance the damage

And MAK if I do lose I won't beat myself up about it lol

*post challenge*

Well, this sits nicely just above 'OMG' lol. thanks for all the comments and votes peeps and giving me my #3 image!

Not quite enough to get MAK but hey, he really made me work for this challenge so thanks can partly go to him!

A little over-processed for my personal taste, but a strong photo anyway. Great moment, good clarity, love the deep black background.

I know the right glove is part of the story, but it distracts to my eye. I'd like it cropped so all we see is the left one and have it in the portrait orientation. That guy looks awfully old to be a boxer. WOW

An outstanding image, and capture.

The only critique giving way to an even higher score from me i the tonal values. There off a bit imo, other that that, this is a great sports image capturing the event, emotional value, and timeliness.

The rules of photography are not observed, but the rules of photography are and that is what makes this a pretty darn good image.

I don't give out large scores normally unless I am moved. This has moved me.

Good luck.

What were you thinking?!! ;o) Someone should really give you a smack in the face for trying to make the great DPC voters think this is real! :-P ;o) Seriously, you know what I think ;o) Though, bet you can't tell me 1 thing that I told you to change and it looks like you didn't...

godd shot, there aren't many shots on boxing, securely original. the whit point on the right, probably a drop, is a bit distracting perhaps was a better choice clone out it.
