Photograph Information Photographer's Comments
Challenge: Architecture IV (Basic Editing)
Camera: Olympus E-510
Lens: Olympus 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6
Location: Chicago - O'Hare
Date: Jan 24, 2008
Aperture: 16
ISO: 100
Shutter: 5s
Galleries: Abstract, Architecture
Date Uploaded: Jan 25, 2008

The Shot:
Some will recognize this as a terminal-to-terminal people mover at Chicago O'Hare (just inverted to emphasize the architectural elements and higher-contrast detail in the ceiling). Although bright enough to shoot as hand-held (with IS), such a shot also captures the herds of people shuffling through here. So I re-set at min ISO, reduced aperture and shutter speed, positioned the camera on the floor and started shooting again. As long as there weren't too many people and if they kept moving, they essentially "disappeared" into their brighter surroundings. I only wish that the floor (ceiling) provided a nicer reflection.

PP:
This was NOT a heavily processed image, but I did make minor adjustments as follows:
CROP, STRAIGHTEN & ROTATE, HIGHLIGHTS, NOISE NINJA, ADD BORDER AND RESIZE FOR DPC

VERY clever with the slow speed, low ISO to make the people disappear. I was wondering how you got this with no people!!

Wow this is mesmerizing! I can't quite figure out what I am looking at or if it is even right-side up. I am guessing an airport? I think so because I think I see moving sidewalks there. This is really spectacular and the colours make it even more so.

Ah-ha! I flipped it in photoshop and I think I am right. Brilliant of you to flip it.

Beautiful work, nice shape, colors, lines, everything. I think it being possibly a bit brighter, and more saturated would help, though I am definately not complaining :)! Would be very interested in knowing where this is taken.

This seems familiar - is it O'Hare airport? Interesting perspective, I'm wondering if you've flipped the photo!

I can't make head or tails of what this is, but I like it! Awesome colours.

I love this place every time I see it! Interesting that you chose to flip it -- I do think the sharper lines at the bottom lead the eye into the picture better, but at the same time I'm practically standing on my head because I want to see it as I would experience it in real life. :)

This is the United terminal at O'Hare, isn't it? Excellent capture - even more colorful than being there.

This is familiar to me. I've been at the Chicago O'Hare airport many times. But this is far better than the shots I did! : ) Nice work!
