 These are my hands painted with henna. This is done to mark a transition and for healing. In India, brides have their hands and soles of feet painted with henna for their wedding.

I have a friend who is a henna tattoo artist. He has done my hands before.

Let me tell you this - it's a real trip to take a photo of your hands. There are focus issues and framing issues. I took about 20 photos where my fingertips were cut off.

The more I sit and look at this, the more the design seems to be floating above the skin. I really like that effect.

I've heard of this, but I've never seen it "up close and personal". The bracelets go well with your hands, too. Thanks for sharing.

Definitely need the fingertips to show off the full quality of the artwork. Really intricate stuff. Your friend is talented, and you did just fine with the photography (we would never have known about you cutting off your fingertips if you hadn't told us!).
