What can I say? Grate image? : )
Don't feel bad. I have one in a current challenge that may show up right next to this in the "lowest rated" images pages.
I see what you were shooting for here, but I think that I would have shot it from the other side, showing the potato, and with a little higher shutter speed. The voters don't seem to vote happy on images that don't have a strong subject that connects directly with the challenge description in their mind when they open the thumb. At least you got this out of the way now, and can get back to going after other ribbons.

No way this should have come in last! I apreciated the unusual perspective, and was one of your 6s.

Well, at least your title has the appropriate term "brown" in it! Congrats on the effort and the achievement.

I absloutely LOVE latkes, BTW. With applesauce.

The blur is ok but I think a faster shutter speed would have helped you with this one. I think the potato is important to the shot for some people.

okay I think I get it

I don't think this shot quite shows what it's meant to show. I would choose a different crop to show it better, and make more use of the dots pattern on the grater, and less blurry hand.

The large out of focus area is distracting to me.

Sorry I cannot quite see what this is. Perhaps too much movement

Had to look at this for a few moments to figure out what the view was and how it relates to the theme. I think it is the hand shredding that is the old way? May have worked better if the potatoes in the foreground did not have so much motion blur. Good out of the box thinking, though.

sorry, i just don't care for this at all. maybe if it were a little sharper i'd like it better.

This is a nice picture but it is hard to tell that the blurred object is a potato and it does take up a very large portion of the photograph. I would have liked to see more of the grater.

most of the picture is out of focus.

I don't know what I'm looking at, only about 1/4th of this photo is actually visable. Your camera looks like it can handle up close pictures you just need a different scence setting to catch an action shot.

Cool shot. I like the movement. I'm not quite sure why it signifies old ways (since I eat plenty of hash browns still) but I like the gutsy shot.

Love the photo. Not sure I see a strong connection to the challenge (possibly I am missing something) but the photo itself is really neat :-)

Errrr...good luck with this one! Are you troll baiting, or is this a genuine entry because I'm confused. Surely you know that the presumed subject 'hash browns' are totally out of focus and unrecognisable. Even if you knew that, this doesn't seem very Old Ways either. Or maybe this is your proudest shot ever and I'm missing the point. Yours in a totally-lost-but-trying-to-be-constructive way, Quasi ;)
