 Started with this image:



Rainbow filter:


– grain merge 100%

Then added same rainbow filter again – flipped – increased saturation 60%, decreased light 40% - used in Multiply 50%

Jutilda's Bokeh Filter



– applied levels and lightened, color balance cyan and yellow – applied filter in Overlay mode 50%

Saved.

Applied xero porcelain filter and ended up with this:



Finally, used the nic efex color filter 'infrared'. I fooled around with the sliders until I liked the result.

Oooh thanks for providing your steps. This is way cool and mysterious looking. I am just starting with overlays and never thought about it in black and white. It's spooky and I love it.

without the textures i really think this would have not been close to the image you created - good work in seeing the possibilities and creativing a memorable image

I think I would prefer this one without the effects of the water drops... the contrast is superb and it has a great dark mood.

Thanks for the editing steps, may try this one day.

As has been mentioned it looks as if it was shot though a windscreen in the rain and to great effect. My only niggle is that the processing has lost most of the bottom left quarter. Good work :)

I am very intrigued how this treatment tells an entirely different and deeply intense story. Being unfamiliar with overlays, my tendency is grave caution, so I am wondering if this effect might not have been made with a slightly less intrusive overlay. I wonder merely, because this certainly spoke to me.

Very cool, i love it. The first thing i thought of is this reminds me of the book The Stranger, which also The Cure did a song titled Killing an Arab, which is about the book. I could see this being the cover for either the book or the song. Awsome job.

You teach me that photos do not end in journalism. They go all the way into art and the abstract. One can process them in any way shape or form, depending only on the requirements of the targeted viewer.

Holy toledo! This is breathtaking! (Literally - it was one of those "oh!" moments when I opened it.) Definitely best in B&W. Very cool layering behind it all.

I'm a big fan of the artistic quality that overlays can add to photos. The overlay definitely makes your beach scene more interesting and artsy. Kind of haunting and turbulent, which is so cool since the original is so peaceful and quiet.

You're very good at this -- you overlay participants are growing so much in your photographic art skills! I love it.

Wow this is very good. The darkend people looking like they are wandering aimlessly sets up the dark mood of this. I had no idea you can do things like this with overlays...very impressive!

I adore the way the people come out looking.. I like the spotty bits and the contrast though I would have preferred if the cloud had been retained.. it just balanced the picture a bit..
