A bunch of old boat dock pilings. Wanted to achieve the feeling of them reaching toward the sun. Kind of lucky with a clear,semi-calm day and the sun cooperating by dropping in an undistracting part of the horizon this time of year. Though some folks in the north might disagree, the hardest part was wading into the fridged 65F/18C degree water ;)

Matt... Congrats on your first ribbon for a very deserving image. Yours was one of my top three picks for this challenge. The strength of it is in the clarity and definition of the sun and the nice reflections of the parallel posts in the water. An excellent capture all the way around.

This is a beautiful image. Just the right light too.The reflection of the sun accompanies those of the poles and works extremely well. It looks hot!

Very Nice... You did a nice job of shooting at the sun and keeping out or getting rid of all the flare.... I like the colors and the dark reflections in the ripples. Very nice composure too.

I like this photo as it relates to the challenge, but the picture on its own seems a little off. The pillars are nice, especially the way you have the shadows almost straight below the pillars. The waves are an interesting element. But, the colors feel forced, like they were played with in photoshop. If they weren't then I appologize for marking this a little lower because of it.

It's a beautiful image and if it isn't the west coast, you sure have made it appear as if it is! Terrific colors and fine take on the Challenge.

This is a photo that I wouldn't change. You've managed to use strong, soft colors, and a mix of detail and simplicity that successfully creates a brooding mood. Top score of the week.

Very nice, expecially the reflection on the sea. I´m not very fond on the purple color in images like this, like a litler warmer WB with more red and orange but thats of course always a matter of a taste.

Absolutely beautiful image and the composition is just so perfect it's the kind of example I can see being displayed in a user guide to composition. Just wonderful lines with the beautiful reflectoins, the way that they form a leading line to the sun, the colours in the sky and water... A real winner. PS This is my absolute favourite in this challenge. LOVE IT!
