may do well, may not. I saw his entry and tried to include its (IMO) primary elements. Log and blades of grass. I have no frozen water so I went for a reflection. The challenge did not say you had to make it a better entry under the challenge it ran under, just an excellent entry so thats what I tried to do. We'll see how it does...
Technicals: single shot and No hdr or tonemapping. slight shadows highlights and color adjustments with some dodge and burn. I used a circular polarizer for the reflection. I hope to break 6.

Post challenge:Woohoo a new PB!!! I didn't think that would be even close when I entered the shot, I was hoping to just break a 6. Thank you all for the votes and comments. Some thought I should enter a duotone and I thought about it a lot and even did an edit in duotone but I didn't like it as much, so I went with the one I liked better. :)
Here is the duotoned version.
Here is the original

You know, as much as I loved Raish's photo for its obvious coveting of the brown, I must admit you did yourself proud here. The duo tone is also gorgeous. That sky, the long exposure, and the reflection are fabulous.

Congrats. The limited colors really make this. I was wondering what shutter speed you used. Was it long to get the smooth reflection, or was it really that still? Thanks.

Congratulations on a beautiful image and a great score and ribbon. I think you made the right choice -- I much prefer the color image to the duotone.

Congrats bigtime, Joe! It's a stunning image. The log looks like it's sitting on top of the water.

I have to admit I was relieved to see you used the Sigma, not the 17-50. ;)

This is a gorgeous photo! Look at the depth in that sky. I wouldn't say it is too close to the original, but close enough. 8.

This is a lovely image, but it bothers me, for this challenge, that you have made no attempt to fit the image into the context of the original challenge, which was "duotones"; had you done a BW conversion into duotone, I'd have scored this near the top.

Very beautiful photo - I like this take on the original photo. Even though the challenge criteria of the photo we're imitating doesn't apply to this challenge, it would be interesting to see what this looks like as a duotone. Great photo, I have no critiques
