I commented during voting on this image saying that I liked the idea, and that sharpness would help the image a lot.. How cool that I actually got a chance to recreate it!

This is my wife who gratiously posed for me. I'm happy with how this turned out!

Editting included some minor cloning, a few layers to make the makeup stand out more, some overall colour adjustments,
levels, UM, resize, UM, border, Save for Web.

I love the overall orange colors in this as well as the intense stare (and color patter) broken by the face paint. Great shot.

As this is advanced editting, I would like to see the dark shadow go away. Keep the varing stages of yellow.

Love the very slight color contrast between her skin and hair and the wall. Wish the slightly darker and smaller shadow of her head could have been dealt with.

I like that you used the actual complementary colors - your lighting could have been better... or maybe you used photoshop to turn your background orange. the orange seems to be flooding onto your model and shadow looks odd. your focus seems pretty good and I like the composition

Well done. That broken shadow behind and left of her head is a bit distracting. Perhaps if she'd stepped forward a step? Great colors!

Definitly better than the original, but i dont like her expression too much. The lighting is really good, and the colors.

Big improvement. The model looks very familiar. The dark shadow is unfortunate.
