This photograph was taken in Georgetown. I've been wanting to take a picture of these old cobble stones and trolley tracks. The sun light really made the trolley tracks glow. I made changes to contrast and color in Photoshop Elements.

Well, at least it was not my fault for saying you would get a ribbon

well done

Thanks for all the nice comments and high scores. Wow almost a ribbon! My highest rated photograph yet. I wasn't sure how a picture of trolley tracks would do. These historic tracks in Georgetown are not used anymore. I never realized how shiny they are and was lucky to catch them on a sunny day. The cobble stones were screaming for a black and white photograph. I like the feeling of this image and am glad you enjoyed it.

This has a melancholy feel to it , asyou know and is well titled. I don't have a picture in this challenge as I just joined yeswterday, and I'm much too busy throwing my weight around to take pictures. Maybe next time. This one is really good. I have no idea what I would have chosen for an entry, it would have been difficult.

The best of the " rails " pictures
I like it, the b/w gives it a great feel somehow.

I predict this is in the top 3. I give it a 10 even though I would prefer the left line match the right one as far as placement... But that's just preference.

Nice use of B&W, 1/2 a body forms a compelling composition against the tracks - the lines do strengthen the composition. One of my top picks.

There are too many train tracks in this contest.
Even so, I find this one of the best.

The title adds much to the appreciation of this photo. Without it, it's still a great photo with lots of detail, but it would lack a little bit of power.

i am intrigued by the person walking out of the photo. this to me is a much more interesting "rail road" shot than others in this challenge.

I really like it, the sepia toning is very nice and I especially like that you have cropped the person above the waist... gives it a feeling of anonymity. (sp?)

what a great shot...the coloring gives it an old time feel...you could almost hear his footsteps on the bricks as he is walking away

Best of the challenge, IMHO The lines are obvious and parallel, but only part of the overall image. The figure adds a different dimension, particularly with the chosen crop - an element of mystery perhaps? Where is he, why is he moving away? Technically bang on, contrast excellent from the deep black of the figure to the completely white reflecte rails. Good luck!

I like this - the way the old cobbles look against the gleaming metal - and the way you have only the bottom half of someone, all in black. Very enigmatic.

Excellent combination of an idea and an image - exquisite use of monochrome and/or or sepia toning (...?) - love it. - 9

This has the feel of a professionally shot photo. Great work. I love the lines, the cobblestones, the composition with the person to the right, the tones. So far, this is my absolute favorite. I know some other people tried to do railway lines, but this is very original and unique. I really hope you do well and take home a ribbon.

Wonderful photo. Very evocative, makes me feel lonely to look at it. The lines really add to the feeling of the picture.
