I got lucky to find a ladybug this time of the year. Taken in a studio on a gerbera daisy. No refrigeration or anything, just let him crawl around and shot him where he went.

I love insects and I love this type of photography. Nice timing by both of you.
Technically this shot is flawless. I didn't see this during voting, and I voted on over 50% of the entries, but it would've garnered a 9 for sure.

What are you having a heat wave down there! No ladybugs for me yet.

Anyway, great job and, ho hum, another ribbon.

Jason, you and ladybugs have a special connection for producing winner images. Only the best ones can go to the backyard and return with a winning image. Great shot & congrats on the TOP result.

See, Doc, you can do great things with live ladybugs as well :-) Congrats on your third place - I know you were afraid of that infamous 4th, LOL.

I find this shot infinitely more interesting that the blue - it's a bit of a shame that originality doesn't register higher with voters. Grats on another ribbon for your collection.

Nice composition, colors and textures. A bit more dark in the upper right than I like but that's a nit pic. It's red. So it's my pick for the red!!!
Congrats.

Really good. Focus is right on and it is so close, we are almost in the flower with the lady bug.

Beautiful! I really like the diagonal lines the petals bring to the composition and the details in the petal tips too. The inclusion of that dark corner echoes the black spots and body parts of the ladybird just as the petals echo the red of the wing casing. Really nice image.

Beautiful. My only comment is that the petals are damaged, maybe sitting the lady bug on another petal would have been better

I really like the softness that you have captured in this picture. Red can be a very harsh colour, but here it just seems warm and inviting. very crisp and clean and a simply wonderful macro, the ladybird is brings this out so well, well done, 10
