this was shot in one the most awesome abandoned buildings i've been so far. it's a hospital for lung deseases, was built around 1900 and got abandoned in 1994 after the russians left the former GDR. the hospital complex contains of 5 or 6 buildings. i've only been in 3 of them, so i'll definately go back and shoot a lot more there, pretty amazing place.

Captured some very haunting lighting here that works well with the run down look of the hall. Nice exposure.

This has got to be an amazing place to see in person. And the light shining thru the windows must create a sense of nostalgia too. I'm more fascinated by the stuff on the right rather than what is down the hallway on the left. I love how the light enhances the details on the railing. Makes you wonder where it all leads to.

What an amazing shot, I really like this a lot. So many avenues but only one takes you to the light. The aging look works great with the building architecture and the peeling walls.

at first i basically use the black&white adjustment in phsCS3. i'm trying all the color filters and go with the one i think gives the best gradient, contrast and tones. then i use a gradient map on soft light mode to get the nice warm tint and a nice contrast with dark blacks. after that i did curves adjustment to finally get the perfect contrast. on this one i also did a second curves adjustment with a mask to brighten the dark corridor on the left.
but having all that said, the key to the tones of this shot is the lighting, as the sun was setting, providing that beautiful warm and deep light.

hope that helps :)

Great old building, such a wonder capture of light and shadows, nicely done. Question, how are you achieving the tone in these shots, what methods? Is it lightroom, PS with due-tone?

ooh, what a find! this place could provide the rest of the years images for you! This is a great shot showing great skill with the lighting and composition. My dark monitor probably makes this more spooky but there is still great detail in the shadows. Take us down that long corridor next week please :)

I share your love of abandoned buildings. This one looks like a treasure. An abandoned building that is not in ruin is harder for me to find. I love the light and the architectural details, and even the peeling paint. Well done.

edit: I came back to add that I can not get this photo out of my mind. This is truly an image I wish I had taken.

Wow! That beautiful old building is abandoned ??? Man, you can feel the character there. I love how you have photographed the light coming in from those stunning windows.

Amazing. I look forward to seeing more of your photos from there.

Firstly, awesome light. Next, though, is the option presented to travel one of three direction in the photo - up the stairs to the right, the lightest and brightest of the alternatives; down the hallway, a rather dark and foreboding option; or down the stairs to the right which offers the promise of escaping the building. Very nice find, this building!

This POV is SUBLIME. What a gift to be able to photograph here. You've certainly done it justice.

beautiful building. The B&W is really effective here because it makes my eye focus on all of the architectural detail - the curving arches are especially pleasant to the eye.

Greate composition! The interior looks well preserved for an abandoned building and the bright light from the outside with the dark coridor create a feeling of isolation within those walls. I'm sure there will be a very interesting place.
