Shot this fellow on my way to Fort William.
Passed by a burger van and there he was just standing there in all his glory.
I assumed he was tame so i put on the Sigma 10-20mm and got really up close and personal to him.
Fired off a few shots before the Burger Van owner pulled me away pointing out that he was not tame and was in fact about to put a few holes in me judging by the way he started shaking his antlers.
Shot at 10mm from about 2 or 3 feet from him.
On a personal note im hoping for my first picture over 6 as i feel the subject matter alone deserves it, and also for my bravery (read: stupidity).

HDR from one picture in order to bring some detail out in the flat clouds.
Cropped, little contrast and other basic adjustments.
Cloned out a Dust Bunny.

I must confess i am absolutely blown away by a 6th place.
I was secretly hoping for a top 30 place until i looked at the entries for February Free and with such high quality entries i then decided a top 50 place would be very good.
I would like to thank all those who left a comment.
Hopefully i can keep up this type of standard in future entries.

Whoa, I never saw this one! Whatta shot! Love the processing, strong but not overstated. Great use of the WA effect without cartoonish distortion. Just really nice work. Bummer to hear he's been murdered :-(

Dunno why you are so shocked by being 6th, its an amazing shot that deserves to be up there, I actually had this pegged for a top 5, so only 1 out :)

Wow! I'm amazed you got so close to the stag and walked away unscathed. Great shot. Very brave!!!

Congrats on 6th place. I thought you might have taken the Blue with this one. It was my top pick.

Totally awesome shot. The combination of the colours, the wide angle, the light and of course your brilliant subject does it for me. Love the composition too.

Love this shot, just wish it were a little sharper.

This looks like a wide angle lens so you must have got pretty close! Really nice shot.

I like the perspective and composition in this. I truly hope you weren't really that close to this animal (that can be dangerous). It is nicely done and you will probably score well. For me, though, I don't like the HDRish look to the grasses.

looks like this was taken with a really wide angle lens. Not sure I'm crazy about the distortion in the head. Otherwise a lovely shot.

Love it, great lens to use to add so much interest to the shot. I gave you a 10.
