An old fallen cluster of arbutus leaves by the side of the road. Taken not too long ago.

This is Faulkner! Better still, a great picture of T. One of my favorites.

Whoa! What a find. :)
...oh, you want a poem? heh heh...

There once was a leaf with a face
blown away I started to chase
when I ran in the street
a truck ran over my feet
and now I'm in the freakin hospital with a cast on both legs and I can't go to work all because I was chasing this STUPID leaf that looked like it had a face on it and people think I have lost my mind which, for all intents and purposes, is true!

Oh. Bruce_the_Robert, "Only then to be one piece of the discovery" really gets to me. Never thought of an historical dimension, of the incredible pretension of all "great" civilization. Thomas King, in his relatively recent Massey Lectures talks about the difference between stories, or story, in N. American Native culture and in Western civilization which he says is based on an either/or logic; I would add also on a "thing" logic.
And JerseyGenie, the suggestion of "theatrical mask," is brilliant. Also putting us closer to Japanese and other Asian traditions as well as Native ones. Transformation is a great theme.
I am moved.

Edit to correct name.

Her poem really works well because at very first glance the central leaf had the feeling of a theatrical mask (silent face).
Love nature scenes and you did very well with this particular one.

Another attempt at something (a poem? I'm not quite sure) for this image:

Before the land was discovered
They were here, and they lived
Living, loving, hunting, celebrating
Only then to be one piece of the discovery
With their strongest remaining claim to this place
The remains of their ancestors

Two different but similar poems, demonstrating the varying effects of different POVs (photographers should write poems more often!). In line with Don's proposal.
roz's reminds me I had thought of putting it into the misunderstanding challenge, but couldn't think of a title.

So, very thank you. T
