The papermill in Canton.
Champion International -->Blue Ridge Paper-->International Paper -->Evergreen (ironic, eh?)

Actually a lot cleaner than it used to be, not as clean as some would like to see it.

(actually shot with the husband's 70 - 300 I'm too lazy to add to my) profile
In Raw -- brightness, contrast, sharpening
In PSP -- crop convert to bw, clarify on full power (5) like 6 times (causes a lot of noise and blocky patches when you do that), noise reduction, resized, border

This is a great shot - not just for the challenge, but on it's own. Very nice use of grain.

This was one of my favorites in this challenge. I love the way you did this with the slight grain -- and dramatic smoke. I thought for sure this one would be smack dab on the front page!

Retro feel to your image. The monochrome makes it!

I like the graininess, and B/W works well for this shot.

This photo is very strong in black and white, although something is off with the picture it appears grainy. The two different color exhausts are nice as well.

I love the feel to this one - could have been taken yesterday or 50 years ago.

Reminds me of an old movie. There's quite a bit of noise in your photo though. Maybe that done on purpose, but it's not to my taste.

The grain actually adds to the appeal of the smoke formation.. To me the lower part seems slightly too busy ..

very appropriate choice of post processing (bw, high-key with grains). reminds me of the BW treatment in the movie "PI:Faith in chaos".

I like the high contrast and grainy image. Works for me. Good Luck.

A bit grainy for me. I like the title, subject and composition very well though.

This picture has a lot of values but it seems kinda of dull. It doesn't seem to have a focus point either,
