This is my fav photo in your portfolio. The pose, the color, the setting all make it an amazing shot.

I am new to this site/forum as well as photography in general but I find our work absolutely captivating. I don,t know you from Adam's house cat but I get this Hunter S. thompson vibe off your
work, True Gonzo photography.

Much admiration, Richard cotner,Birmingham

Wow... This is truly beautiful.

You are one of the best photographers out there.

Forgetting the fact that this woman is drop-dead gorgeous, this is truly a beautful picture. Great shot. Now then, back to this woman ...
08/09/2005 12:19:13 AM
This is a great shot!

NO ONE CAN BEAT DRJONES GREAT COLOR AND SHARPNESS
09/04/2004 12:52:16 AM
I love this photograph. The light and color are crisp and grab the viewer. I am a weekend hack who loves photography more for capturing life as it happens than anything else. However, I also know what I like and I like this photograph.

Glad to still see you contributing. Of course when you have nudity, the picture will get hammered by some, but in addition to the ladies, the scenery of some of your pictures are wonderful (ie: this one and the Cuban skies one).

I love this picture! The Blue sky, the off centered hill, and the model, great job picking a red head for this one. Any other hair color would of not looked as good. She really does look like a mirage, from heaven! Congrates!

Thank you all for the nice comments. Once again, I find myself in 4th position. Ahhhhhhhh, the irony! ;-)

I salute the top 3 winners! Congrats!

Kosmik: your joke/observation is hilarious! By a feather... or two! Man, that one cracks me up!!!!!!!!

To answer some questions:
- I called the shot Mirage because it was photographed at Dry Lake Mirage.
- Yeah, multiple 1's and 2's suck, but I have learned on DPC that the low votes are innevitable as soon as your shot contains any type of nudity. That is the cost to pay to enter such an image in a challenge. Doesn't mean I don't find it frustrating though.
- Ursula: pount taken. The dust should go.

Tahnks again all! Keep shooting!
See ya.

Mirage. From a guys point of view, I guess :))))
Congratulations!

Will I be a total idiot if I point out one little, tiny nitpick that bothers me a bit in this picture? The bigger of the two dust-devils (or dust from cars driving?) in the distance, right behind her and to the left, I wish it were not there.

I love the colours in the picture.
04/08/2004 11:43:20 AM
WOW! I wish I could find subject matter like that.
04/08/2004 08:27:48 AM
I can't believe that anyone could give this a 1, 2, or 3. Or anything less than 5 for that matter. It's an outrage!! It was one of my two 9 votes. Congrats on your 4th place....it should have been first IMHO.
04/08/2004 12:06:45 AM
Man! You missed your ribbons by a feather... or two! ;-)

Wow what a terrific place for an environmental shoot! Great model too. Fantastic shot. Her left breast looks a little awkwardly smunched, but other than that, this is an outstanding shot...
04/07/2004 10:49:25 PM
well Ive seen uglier models! thanks for this!! 10
04/07/2004 09:24:04 AM

04/07/2004 06:31:05 AM

04/06/2004 09:18:19 PM
Wow perfect!!!
04/06/2004 05:06:28 PM
superb shot! I love the combination of a very crackeled soil with the pure soft skin of the model. the light is absolutely perfect, as well as the DOF! Bravo
04/06/2004 04:33:05 PM
I was just here! I didn't see her though. i just saw the big cement tree. nice tones and composition.
04/06/2004 01:11:41 PM

kinda makes me feel that she is snake and about to bite and lead me into temptation. But if this is a mirage, I have nothing to worry about.. :) Well, she is no mirage and this photo with the comp and lighting are great. Also lineing here up with the horizon with the hip works well too. Great eye. Oh there is a hair lose....wait that's a hair on my LCD...opps....Good Luck

Excellent use of negative space, wish there wasn't the tangent with the horizon and her rear, otherwise excellent.

DrJones, right? :-) What time of the day did you shoot this? The lighting is just perfect, but I know you probably used fill flash as well and possibly reflectors. Good work. 10

I'm a sucker for beatiful naked women parched in the desert. Very creative, and the shadow of the late sun adds to the effect.

Lighting and focus are superb. I normally don't especially care for nudes because so few are done tastfully but you've done a fine job here.

I like this shot, I wonder if her back line broke the horizon there would be more movement

this gotta be the dr jones.... awesome....
04/03/2004 05:10:57 PM
I don't see these mirages very often. Very Dali-esque.
04/03/2004 01:29:25 PM
Everyone else will love this, so take this for what this is worth: her face looks so perfect that it is almost fake looking (not a single line.) A little more texture on the cracked desert floor would also have helped. Other than that, this is tremendous, and the composition is perfect. -8

haha, this is HOT, and a very good picture too
04/03/2004 03:06:14 AM
Nice one. Her skin tones the match the colours of the ground. And if I stretch it a bit I could say that her makeup/eyeshadow picks up the blue the sky... Good perspective as well as a lovely model. Can't decide if you should crop the sky a little bit and put even more emphasis on the model. 9, bordering on a 10
04/02/2004 09:48:29 PM
well from a professional level, excellent lighting, composition and focus on a personal level... YOWZA!! 10+ also love the texture on the ground

meeeeeeeee and dr. .....dr. joooones!!

The first photo to make me go WOW.
04/02/2004 07:52:58 PM
Great shot---very nice...focus...
04/02/2004 04:10:46 PM
Nice Mirage. Great shot
04/02/2004 01:46:55 PM
I'm in love!
Nice contrast here between the scorched earth and soft supple skin of your beautiful model. Her skin tones are exquisite. I also love the lock of flaming red hair, but wish her left arm wasn't blcoking most of it. I like the way her body is positioned and that her head does not rise much abve the horizon, which creates a nice contrast with the distant mountains.

I believe I recognize this model. Like all your nudes this is fantastic work. I'm curious about two things: Is this done in the studio? If so it is an amazing job. Did you use Neat Image or some other tool to bring out a smooth appearance to your model's skin? The bottom line is that this image has great lighting, it has good color tones, it effectively applies the rule of thirds and you captured a good pose. Kudos to you for one fine image.

04/02/2004 12:14:13 AM
The Doctor is in the house! As always, magnifique!!
04/01/2004 11:42:12 PM
sexy...!
04/01/2004 09:07:12 PM
The smoothness of the model's skin is breathtaking an it's contrast with the course and dry ground is spectacular. Very powerful image.

Nice idea but she's a little too solid and sharp to be a mirage!! - Still it's a great shot. Love the red hair and the constrast between her smooth skin and the dry, cracked earth. I'd love it even more if she weren't wearing makeup but that's just a pet pieve of mine since I wouldn't have makeup on if I were naked in a desert. :) - 8

Pretty redhead, wonderful shot.....wow. Shadow is a little strong but then what do I know. Love it.
04/01/2004 06:54:34 PM
That's quite a mirage...looks like there's a hill there over yonder.
04/01/2004 04:00:52 PM
Perfectly lit, super sharp, stunning naked lady... gotta be DrJOnes! - 10
04/01/2004 01:51:30 PM
Poor girl is gonna get dust all over her equipment:) Great minimalistic apeal to the shot. The colours of the dry lakebed, the model's hair and the clear blue sky work wonders together. Great work and once again, very appealing model.
04/01/2004 01:45:08 PM
nice photo, great use of lighting.
04/01/2004 12:57:23 PM
this looks like a ribbon to me, great shot.
04/01/2004 12:44:58 PM
Fantastic! The lighting is wonderful to look at (as is the model!) I also like the angle of the shot :-) = 9
04/01/2004 12:02:50 PM
This is definately one of this challenge's best. Composition is super, focus couldn't be any better, and I really like your choice of location. Oh, and the model... Va Va Voom!

DrJOnes I presume. You and your lady get around a lot, heh heh. Aside from the fact she's stunning and could stand in front of a garbage dump and you'd still have a winning picture, this is a great shot. Even my wife likes it!

This one is pitch perfect. the lighting is excellent, the subject is interesting and well posed and the background is just out of this world. I love the overall composition. one of my few 10s in this challenge (which seems to have some extremely high caliber work). I hope you take home a ribbon!

this may be an odd thing to say ... but her red hair makes the image

Skin seems to lack a little detail, but man is this cool ;) Nice girl too.

Absolutely stunning! Beautiful model, and love the angle you've used for the sun, it casts beautiful shadows. The cracked earth is excellent, and the angle you have used perfect. I look forward to seeing who did this one and most definitely adding it to my favourites. Though I have only looked at the thumbnails so far, this looks like being my pick of the challenge. 10+++
