Challenge: Magazine Cover Revisited (Advanced Editing I)

I just took a few hundred dollar bills from my kids' piggy banks and made them into paper dolls, then moved the whole set up near an open window with late afternoon sun. Well, okay, it's fake money, but they're real paper dolls! I liked the mottled sunlight as it moved through a lacy curtain.

Processing included cropping, contrast, adding green (the real fake bills were white) and sharpening. I did some cloning of some abberations from the white paper background, too.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. I don't mind 4th; there are so many great shots in this challenge, and I'm very pleased with the photo myself. Keep shooting!

Ouch - just seen this score and placing. I guess the ridiculous number of ribbons you already have is some consolation, but to both score over 7 and come on fourth is a cruel result David.

Very artistic. Like the concept behind the shot and the volumes of stories it tells.

Cool- I like the composition and overall 'money' color. I hope the props didn't cost you $100! Maybe you could have shot this reversed (dolls at bottom right and shadow in back)? Half the dolls would lost under the headline here.

Very cute. I can't believe you really cut up a $100 bill, so I'd be interested in how you managed this picture.

This is very nice! I like the green tones to it. The shadows and lighting are great.

Great idea. I love the simplicity. But I do think one of the more important compositional elements (the cutouts) would get lost in the title.

simple but very effective. Might need some more empty space at the top for text of the magazine cover. Great surface as well. 10

Did you get this idea from an existing maganize? If not, it is very creative. And it's also very well done. 8.

You've captured a great image and excellent mag cover with this shot. The green tones, cut outs, and shadows blend just right. One of my favorites this time.

Very well done! creative! :-) Maybe a little more space to the Fortune title, they use bold fonts. :-)

That is a wonderful concept and I could definately see something like this on the cover of Fortune. The only thing I would change is the composition. The main subject (the money guys) would look better on one of the lower corners and their shadows should be heating up to one of the top corners where they will be partly covered by the title.

Now this is GREAT. You used your brain...you put a lot of thought into making a photo with interest and impact and not just a snapshot ! The subject, lighting, color tones, shapes and composition ALL give this photo that WOW impact. Awesome ! 10
