Taken at the world's oldest zoo in Vienna, Austria.
The weather was terrible, with snow and rain. Monkeys hate rain so gathering the whole flock and warming each other is a good idea. I have some shots where the falling snow was more visible but unfortunately they were slightly blurry.

Trying to wipe off the melting snow from my lens, this photo was not easy to take. Many passers by laughed at the monkeys sitting there and looking miserably wet but cute. It would have been even sharper if I had had a tripod and shot with ISO 100 instead of ISO 400.

If I was allowed to do spot editing, I would have removed the man-cut tree, darkened the stones and lit up the eyes.

Congrats, this is a wonderful capture! I really hate that some folks felt the idiotic need to give you 1s 2s and even 3s, but such is life.

Ohmygosh! This photo makes my heart hurt (in a good way). I wanna get a cozy warm blanket and wrap it around them and snuggle with them. What a moment you captured. And it is absolutely perfect -- it doesn't need ANY spot editing. CONGRATULATIONS on capturing such an emotional photo -- and for winning your first ribbon and personal best score with it. It's going straight to my faves!

Jac, Registered Users as opposed to members can only enter Open Challenges, and thus can only enter one a week. Pelle - now you are a ribbon winner, I feel you are duty bound to cough up the Euros for a full membership :¬)

I am honored and very happy for my first ribbon! Thank you all so much for your supportive voting and encouraging feedback. Actually I submitted a photo for the Pattern III challenge first. When uploading the Intimacy photo I got an alert that entering two challenges is not allowed the same week so I unsubmitted the Pattern contribution.

I made it over 7.00 rating with the least possible margin (7.0035) :-)

This is a great shot, and in my opinion shows more "intimacy" than most of the photos in this challenge!

Beautiful! Tell's a story and is exciting to look at.

This is very nicely composed and has a great sense of intimacy. If those other two monkeys on the left moved on, it would have been better. But I would bet that you already knew that.

Lovely shot.

There is much to like here, the diagonal formed by the rock in the foreground, the gentle colour range (nothing loud or distracting) the two sub-groups within the overall group (everyone ahs someone to love), and the baby sitting safe and protected between the adults.

Lovely shot conveying 'Intimacy' beautifully.

Should do very well.

I despise any kind of fuzzy, monkey type creature...but I think this is a wonderfully intimate photo! : )

I like how the three are intimate and the other two are a bit left out. I even imagine their expressions are a bit unhappy... although they all look that way a bit.
The colors are pretty, too.

Nice. Maybe a little more sharpness or light on the monkey's faces might have helped but this is still a great shot.

Sweet! Great take on this challenge, nice comp and color; intimacy probably was born in such groups of creatures :-)

Amazing shot, excellent work. This is what intimacy is in how they protect the little one. If this in a zoo it is hard to tell with the way you cut it in great work
