It looks like a Faberge egg!

Jeb, you are another person that I look for your shots as I know they will always be interesting.

this is what I see when i look at it.

it is an amzing picture to say the least. But I think it really needs to be pin sharp, it does seem oof. The other thing that i noticed is and I know there isnt, but it looks like burning on the gold. sort of a blackish shadow on there, it appears on the lower left of the shot to within the white.

magnificent colours here, amazing patterns, you are so lucky to be able to be there and see this.

I don't think it is blur, so much as a lack of the fine clarity that most look for in a scene like this. Perhaps a side effect of the post processing. I will sometimes find I lose some fine detail in my effort to make something pop. Though you did have a wide aperture and slow shutter speed. I have been finding that with my SLR I can get away with bumping up the ISO to higher levels with little to no visible noise. That may be a preferable option instead of a slow shutter speed. The image does have a neat 3-dimensional feel to it. I like the composition.

p.s.

1. I don't see any blur

2. If there is any blur, then I like it. More detail would distract from the patterns.

yeah, this does a good job of showing the excessiveness of cathedral architecture. It gives a glimpse of many different patterns at once. Good fit to the challenge. (if you care about the opinion of an immature lout like me)

I thought this was very pretty and all the lines and patterns made this interesting to look at. I did give it a 6 but would have given it a higher score if the slight blur was not there. With all these beautiful lines, I am expecting something crisp and sharp so that I can enjoy all the specific details in the architecture.

This is quite beautiful because of the chaos. Swirls and circles and squares and rectangles all with a splash of beautiful rich color.

I think your shot might have had the same problems mine did - too much pattern (well we both have comments to that effect anyway - I can't see how you can meet the challenge *too much* personally). That and the slight lack of sharpness might have hurt your voting.

That said, I like the angle and it's a good fit for the challenge.

There are too many different patterns to focus on. In this shot less would have been more.

Patterns overload here. Meets the challenge , but somehow the balance of the image does not seem right . The patterns are a little to disconnected IMO 6

Fantastically done. The angle of choice adds dimension that is usually lost in 2D.

love the pov but my eye is searching for a focal point, so much to look at.

I really like the composition and the color in this. It almost feels out of focus more than looking out of focus though.

It's busy, it's noisy, it's got a bit of handheld motion to it, and I really like it. Definitely a cacophony!
