Photograph Information Photographer's Comments
Challenge: Body Parts II (Advanced Editing VII)
Camera: Nikon D300
Lens: Sigma 100-300mm F/4.0 EX IF HSM for Nikon
Location: Telstra Dome, Melbourne Australia
Date: Apr 5, 2008
Aperture: F4
ISO: 500
Shutter: 1/1000
Galleries: Sports, Black and White
Date Uploaded: Apr 6, 2008

The Image: I know this is a long shot for this challenge, but I had a great time taking shots at this game :)

Used a 100-300 F4 zoom, and the D300 was exceptional compared to the D200. Focus was faster, lightning fast, and the exposures didn't seem to need as high and ISO setting. I got away with 500. This meant that I could shoot at 1/1000sec, and still have super low noise, something that the D300 is becoming famous for.

THE EDIT: Black and White, Levels, som burning of the shadows in the stands, USM. nothing much

PREDICTION: It's a bit out of the box, so I am guessing 5.8

POST: well it was a little out of the box, but it did better than expected at 20th in a huge challenge...thanks everyone. The D300 is a world better than the D200 when it comes to football, or anything else for that matter!

excellent photograph and love the process . love the look of intense concentration on that player's face ... really gives this a very dramatic feeling along with all those 'body parts' reaching and straining .. fantastic shot ..:) .

WOW OH WOW OH WOW!!!!!!

The intensity, the focus, the story...

This is an extraordinary shot, something that comes around once in a blue moon. Beautiful crispness, excellent capture, your angle is perfect, the people jumping all seem to jumping for your benefit. This is something that I could look at all day and keep seeing something different.

Others may not agree, but this certainly is a great example of body parts. Great shot and very well done B&W conversion.

Nice black and white treatment and focus. The title is a little much for me but I won't knock ya down for it.

Sports is my passion, my hobby, and my partial income.

Everything I know about sports photography is present in this image.

If the sixth man had not shown his face, I would of marked low on this image.

Good luck.
