My father-in-law inherited this old phonograph and wanted me to take a few pictures of it so they could have it dated.

I had no idea this silly picture would be so well received by the voters.

Thanks for comments and votes! Another fun and exciting week - I think I broke my update button.

this is a wonderful image. I love these kinds of shots. It amazes me how you are able to keep improving in your skills. The blue is just around the corner. Also you are tearin' it up with that lens. Way to go!!

this almost got a posthumous ribbon, but I could not resist the lips. this is one of those shots that I don't even understand why I like it, or why it has so much emotion. something mysterious brought on by the balanced composition and narrow dof.

One of those shots that amazes me with the incredible amount of detail that can sometimes be fit into 720 pixels.

It's the groove that really make this (of course, there's only one groove per side of a photograph. ;-Þ)

Favorite so far. I love the tones. Maybe just a bit more highlight at the needle tip, compared to the top, to draw attention first (based on your title). The top of the image gets first glance. Some kind of "photoshop" artifact around the proximal needle as well as the base of the player (unbelievable DOF, lens blur mask gone awry?). 8 but would be a 10 if the PSing was "invisible".
